A Recommended OCR Software

It’s a long time for me to looking for a software that can help me to “not typed again” to documents that I received in the form of printable documents. Although the scanner can do it, but the resulting characters are often many mistakes. Thus, not helped even more difficult for me in processing the document.

And then, I found this AABBYY FineReader 10 Professional. Its a highly intelligent OCR (optical character recognition) software for creating editable and searchable electronic files from scanned paper documents, PDFs and digital photographs.

I must admit that I was impressed by this software product after a very long time. Although the installation was a bit lengthy, the accuracy was close to 97% including graphics [hand written notes on printed document scans] and about 99.5% on printed documents, which is far better than my expectations.

Slow and steady wins the race

Expectations are sometimes very amusing things. You have them and then find yourself surprised when they prove wrong. It’s like assuming every classic diner will serve apple pie only to find some that don’t. So, browsing through the news, I was surprised to come across a news item about the latest words of wisdom to be published by the American College of Physicians. For those of you who don’t follow medical affairs, the ACP was founded in 1915 and has 120,000 internists in its organization. This makes it the largest specialty organization in the medical field. You expect this kind of body to be on top of things. With advances in medical technology stunning us every week, you look to the ACP for leadership, promoting excellence and professionalism among its members by issuing guidelines and advice based on the latest evidence. So here is their latest offering. It’s finally official. The best treatment for erectile dysfunction is a PDE5 inhibitor pill.

So, all you doctors living out there in the boondocks, you must stop recommending those scary pump devices. You know those vacuum tubes that encourage a hard erection when you pump out the air. More effective but painful were those injections. Patients always liked the words of encouragement that being injected in the penis was no worse than being slapped by an elastic band on the rebound. And no more of those suppositories. (more…)

Omega Highlights

Omega is not only renowned for their history of timekeeping at the Olympics, but the company also has a history in diving, space and railways. Bearing the prestigious Omega brand name, replica Omega watches offer the prestige and advantages of the originals.

In 1932, Omega created the first watch for divers, cementing their place in the evolution of underwater timepieces. In 1957, the Omega Automatic Seamster 300 offered water resistance to the depth of 300 meters. The ideal timepiece for professional divers, it maintained its accuracy even at great depths and in cold water. Another diving benchmark piece was the Seamaster 600m Professional, also called the Ploprof, short for the French phrase plongeur professionnel, or professional diver. Rugged and radical in design, it was well-received for not only its appearance but also for its performance and functionality. The wristwatch Ploprof 1200M, an updated version easily recognizable by its resemblance to the original, was released in 2009 and offered water resistance even at depths of 1200 meters.
